Light Up Festival at the National Coal Mining Museum

A free festive day at the coal mining museum: lantern-making, Christmas stalls, live music, a fire artist, and a lantern parade with a brass band at dusk.

About this event

There's a drop-in lantern-making session from midday, plus living history performances, a light-up trail and Christmas food stalls. In the Pit Yard there are brass band sets, projections and a fire performance from 4pm. The day ends with a lantern parade led by Hade Edge Brass Band at 6.15pm.

Before you go

Costs to know about: Food stalls and shopping cost money. The car park closes when full, and no vehicles can leave during the parade.
