About this event

Rusty Riders is a free cycle training programme designed to help adults in Hull build confidence and get back on their bikes. Funded by Hull City Council and delivered by qualified instructors, the two-and-a-half-hour sessions are ideal for anyone who hasn’t cycled for a while, feels nervous riding on the road, or simply wants to refresh their skills. Each session starts with a chat about your experience and confidence, allowing the instructor to tailor the training to the group. You’ll then practise a mixture of real-life cycling situations, including quieter side roads, main roads, junctions and off-road cycle routes, helping you feel more comfortable making everyday journeys or heading out for leisure rides. Sessions run weekly at rotating locations across Hull, including East Park, Pearson Park and Hull History Centre - and they’re completely free for Hull residents. If you have your own bike, helmet and hi-vis clothing, bring them along. If not, bikes and safety equipment can be provided on request. Whether you’re returning to cycling after years away or just want some extra confidence, Rusty Riders offers a friendly, practical way to get moving again. Locations: Pearson Park, HU3 1TB (Beverley Road Entrance, please meet inside the main gates from the Beverley Road entrance) Hull History Centre HU2 8BG (Please meet in the car park of the Hull History Centre Worship street, Hull) Costello Stadium HU4 6XG (Please meet at Costello car park near to the Costello Sports Centre) East Park HU8 8JU (Please meet at the gates of east park facing Holderness Road) Free
