Who we are

Free Pass Yorkshire (freepassyorkshire.com) is run by JRE Marketing Ltd, based in Hull, UK. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us any time at hello@freepassyorkshire.com.

What we collect and why

Browsing without an account. You can use the map, places, events and routes without telling us anything. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and working. When you tap a heart on a place we store a random device number in your browser, so you can’t heart the same place twice. It isn’t linked to who you are.

Your location. If you allow it, your phone shares your location so the map can show free places near you and give directions. This stays on your device: we don’t store it or send it to our servers. You can turn it off any time in your phone or browser settings.

Your account. If you sign up, we store your email address, a display name, and your password (encrypted, we can’t see it), or your Google account email if you sign in with Google. We use this to give you your Free Pass, keep your saved places and “been there” list, and send you emails about your account.

Things you add. Reviews, photos, places, events, corrections and reports you send are stored with your account so we can check them. Reviews and photos are shown publicly with your display name. Photos you upload should not show other people’s faces clearly.

Businesses and venues. If you claim a listing, become a partner or contact us about advertising, we keep your name, email, business details and messages so we can verify you and reply.

Payments. Payments (such as partner listings or a coffee donation) are handled by Stripe. We see your name, email and what you bought, but never your full card details.

Weekly email. If you sign up to our email, we keep your email address with our email provider (Brevo) and only send you emails after you confirm. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Our legal reasons (UK GDPR)

We run your account and the things you ask for under contract; we keep the site secure and check submissions under our legitimate interests; and we send the weekly email only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We never sell your data or share it with advertisers. We use these trusted services to run Free Pass Yorkshire:

Some of these companies may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and storage

We only use cookies and browser storage that the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your hearts and saved places, and storing pages you save for offline use. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, so there’s no cookie banner.

How long we keep it

We keep your account until you delete it. Contact messages and business enquiries are kept for up to 2 years. Payment records are kept for 6 years because the law requires it. Technical logs are deleted automatically within a few weeks.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself at any time: here’s how. This permanently deletes your account, Free Pass, saved places, “been there” list and reviews. Photos, places and events you added that we’ve published stay on the site but are no longer linked to you. Ask us if you’d like those removed too.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Email hello@freepassyorkshire.com and we’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Free Pass Yorkshire is made for families, but accounts are for adults aged 16 or over. Children can use the map and listings without an account.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top, and tell account holders by email if anything important changes.
