About
At the end of Whitefriargate, the excavated remains of Hull's 14th century town walls and gate sit below street level in a public space. It was here in 1642 that the Governor, Sir John Hotham, refused King Charles I entry to the town, one of the first acts of the Civil War. A scheduled monument that you can walk down to and look over at any time.
