About

Birk Crag is a steep wooded valley on the west side of Harrogate, with millstone grit outcrops at the top and rocky Oak Beck below. It is one of only two places in Britain for the rare chestnut click beetle, and has bluebells in spring plus nuthatch, treecreeper and woodpeckers. Paths are steep and rooty, so it is not suitable for limited mobility.
