About

Gaddings Dam is an old mill reservoir high on the moors above Lumbutts, near Todmorden, now looked after by a local volunteer company for the community. Its sandy beach on the north-east side is a popular summer spot, and a path runs around the water with wide views across the moors. There is no road access, so expect a steep, rough climb on foot; there are no toilets or lifeguards.

Opening times

  • Open moorland, reached on foot only

Times can change, so check with the venue before a special trip.
