About

Heath Common is a big stretch of open grassland and gorse scrub around the conservation village of Heath, about 1.5 miles east of Wakefield. Look out for the restored pinfold, the Georgian Whittling Well arch and two ponds with frogs, toads and newts, plus kestrels overhead. It is open access land and the Trans Pennine Trail runs along its western edge.
