About

Howden Minster is one of the largest churches in the East Riding and became a collegiate church in the 1260s. Its crossing tower is about 41 metres tall. The choir vaults fell in 1696, and the ruined 14th-century chancel and octagonal chapter house are now looked after by English Heritage and viewed from outside.

Inside the working church, look out for the 15th-century stone pulpitum with four statues, the Decorated font from 1320 to 1350 and the medieval stained glass in the south porch.
