About
Opened in the 1840s and closed to burials in the 1970s, this cemetery off Spring Bank West is now a peaceful spot with mature broadleaved woodland. An information panel at the main gates maps 21 points of interest, including the 1849 cholera monument, the Quaker burial ground, the Mason Monument and a bench dedicated to Philip Larkin. Volunteers from the Friends group look after it and run guided walks during Heritage Open Days.
