About

Lilla Cross stands on a burial mound on Fylingdales Moor and is thought to date from the 10th century. Legend says the first cross marked the grave of Lilla, who died in 626 shielding King Edwin of Northumbria from an assassin. It sits beside the Lyke Wake Walk, so it is a moorland walk to reach it; please keep to the path as the peat erodes easily.
