About

The Pocklington Canal runs for about nine and a half miles from Canal Head near Pocklington to the River Derwent, and most of it is an SSSI for its wildlife. The tree lined towpath is a peaceful walk past old locks and humpbacked bridges, with kingfishers and up to 15 kinds of dragonfly and damselfly. The lower end runs into the Lower Derwent Valley National Nature Reserve.
