About

The Ripon Rowel is a waymarked circular walk of about 50 miles that starts and ends in Ripon and loops around the lower Ure valley. It passes Markenfield Hall, the edge of Fountains Abbey and Studley, the Valley of the Seven Bridges, Eavestone Lakes, the Druid's Temple at Ilton and Hackfall Woods. Look for the rowel (spur wheel) waymark, and take a map as some riverside parts can flood after heavy rain.
