About
A large nature reserve on former industrial land, now mostly wooded with open meadows, ponds and a good network of paths, including a stretch of the Trans Pennine Trail. Look out for the Grade II listed Birley Spa Bath House, the Tudor-era Carr Forge Dam, and wildlife such as reed buntings, barn owls and water voles. There is a car park and visitor centre at the end of Stone Lane.
