About
This quiet church in wooded Kirkdale is best known for its Anglo-Saxon sundial from around 1055 to 1065, set above the south door under the porch. Its Old English inscription records how Orm, son of Gamal, rebuilt the ruined minster. The sundial can be seen from the porch even when the church is locked, and Kirkdale Cave is a short walk away.
