About
Built between 1836 and 1839 to a design by George Leather, this cast-iron aqueduct carries the Aire and Calder Navigation over the River Calder near Wakefield. A wider concrete aqueduct was added alongside in 1981, so you can see old and new side by side from the towpath. It is a pleasant flat walk for families and a good spot to watch boats.
