About
Legend says a drummer boy was sent into a tunnel under Richmond Castle and told to keep drumming, but the sound stopped about half a mile from Easby Wood and he was never seen again. The Drummer Boy's Stone marks the spot beside the riverside path. A popular circular walk starts at the castle gates, passes the stone to reach the ruins of Easby Abbey and returns along the old railway line.
