About
This mile-long stretch of road across Wheeldale Moor is probably Roman, though it may be older or newer, and you can still see its hard core and drainage ditches. It is also known as Wade's Causeway and makes a memorable moorland walk. Expect sheep on the moor and take care parking on the roadside.
