About
The West Pier shelters Whitby harbour and ends with a 25 metre lighthouse built in 1831, the taller of the town's two pier lighthouses. Walk out for views of the abbey on the East Cliff and boats coming in and out of the Esk. A foghorn on the pier extension sounds every 30 seconds in fog.
