About

Yarm Castle isn't a real castle: it's a miniature stone folly built in the 1880s by local man David Doughty, who lived in the house next door.

Look out for its turrets, ramparts and coloured glass windows, which were once lit by gas. His son Henry later added a little model of Yarm Town Hall behind it.

It sits in a private front garden on West Street, so please enjoy it from the pavement. It's small and easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled.
