About
Beggar's Bridge is a single-arch packhorse bridge over the River Esk, built in 1619 and now a scheduled monument. Legend says it was paid for by Tom Ferris, who once could not cross the flooded river to see his sweetheart. It sits a short walk from Glaisdale station and on the Coast to Coast route, with woodland paths along the river nearby.
