About

Fat Betty is a short, stout stone cross on the moor road near Rosedale Head, marking the old meeting point of Rosedale, Westerdale and Danby. Its name comes from its tubby shape, and folk tales link it to nearby Young Ralph Cross. Tradition says you should leave a small offering, such as a sweet, on Betty's base.
