About
Young Ralph is a 10 foot stone cross, probably from the 11th century, standing beside the road up Rosedale. It became the emblem of the North York Moors National Park in 1974. The older and smaller Old Ralph stands just up the slope on Ledging Hill, and local legend says a farmer called Ralph put it up for a traveller who died there.
